Age eighteen.
At her school's coming-of-age ceremony, Wen Xiaoyu performs a dance and notices a woman with an indifferent expression sitting in the VIP section, staring at her.
Later, during the holiday, her aunt brings the woman to their home.
The unsmiling woman places a ring in her palm and introduces herself in a businesslike tone: "Hello, it's nice to meet you. I'm your fiancée."

Age twenty-eight.
Jiang Yan, a dazzling success in love who has "passed through a hundred flowers without a single leaf clinging to her," unexpectedly learns that she's engaged. Her mother arranged the engagement, and according to her, the only way to break it off is for Wen Xiaoyu to be the one to call it off.
So Jiang Yan goes to see Wen Xiaoyu and brings her home.
At first, she thinks that once Wen Xiaoyu sees all her ambiguous relationships, she'll probably ask to end the engagement.
But unexpectedly, in the middle of the night, Wen Xiaoyu leans close to her ear and shyly whispers, "Big Sister, I... I can do that too."
"C-can you stop going to see them?"
