[Thank you for supporting the official edition~ The upcoming novel The Sparrow Bearing a Branch is now open for follows.]
A cool, seemingly pure beauty official who is secretly ruthless x a love-struck, carefree, sly prince
Yuan Heng, eldest daughter of the Yuan family of Yanzhou, was breathtakingly beautiful and gifted at military strategy. Yet her father pressured her into going to Qidu to find a marriage match.
To everyone's surprise, Yuan Heng paid no attention to marriage. She devoted herself to writing and scholarship, and, by imperial command, took the civil service examinations. When the results were posted, she had placed third, making her the talk of the capital.
The old ministers at court all said, "If this woman enters government, she will bring ruin to the nation and its people!"
Yet Yuan Heng rose steadily through the ranks on the strength of her talent. She tackled long-standing problems, cleared away entrenched abuses, investigated old cases, and quelled unrest. In the end, she advanced rapidly and entered the cabinet as its chief minister.
Just after turning down Prince Yue's marriage proposal, Yuan Heng realized another prince had become attached to her.
His Highness Prince Ling looked and behaved just like the man who had once been her unattainable first love. Fueled by wine, the two spent one night together.
This carefree prince, who had always seemed to take nothing seriously and avoid all conflict, was putting on an act. Whenever they were alone, he blocked Yuan Heng's way time and again and demanded, "Is it really so hard for you, Lord Yuan, to give me a place in your heart?"
Yuan Heng: "..."
Later, Wen Che seemed to become a different person. He casually turned away countless admirers, claiming, "Since my lord says she has never been one for love, she ought to treat everyone equally."
The old ministers at court:
Yuan Heng is bringing ruin to the nation and its people! Prince Ling is plotting something sinister!
Meanwhile, Prince Ling:
She ignored me today... Is she annoyed with me?
Who is this person accompanying her?
She actually smiled at him!
Much later, Wen Che's deputy pointed to the portrait of Yuan Heng's first love and said, "Your Highness, that's you."
"The first time I saw her, the city was about to fall, and the panicked crowds swept away everything in their path. Only she was running against them, carrying a child who had fallen and been injured. That was the day I sent soldiers to reinforce the city."
"That day, it poured. She knelt outside the Hall of Chaoyun in her rain-soaked official robes and vowed to become a stone step for Beicheng."
"She can be the stone steps. I'll hold the lantern for her."
Reading guide:
1. Romance and political intrigue are given equal weight.
2. There is some female-disguised-as-male content, but not much, perhaps two or three chapters. She later enters government as a woman. There is a little bit of reconciliation after a breakup.
3. The male lead suffers from amnesia, but not permanently. His appearance is different because he had previously used a disguise for convenience.
4. The official system is inspired by the Ming dynasty, but the setting is mainly fictional and serves the story. Please don't nitpick the historical details~
5. One-on-one romance, both leads are virgins, happy ending
Theme: Going against the current
So pretty! It's really rare to be able to write both the career and emotional lines of the heroine so brilliantly, instead of using the heroine to surround the male protagonist! I have seen so many stories about male characters in ancient Chinese novels that they become officials and achieve great ambitions, or they are kings, grandsons, nobles, nobles, and nobles who cook gold and jade. Finally, I saw a story that carefully crafted the character of the heroine and spent a lot of time telling the heroine's efforts to be a good minister, eliminate traitors, and bring peace to the world. T^T
Looking forward to the author's next Empress article!
I stayed up late and read it now... It's a really good-looking book. The writing is coherent and smooth. The characters, especially the women, are very good. The female minister and the prince are the true meaning of the two powers. The author will become popular as soon as possible. Look at her in the sunshine at noon!
I finally finished reading it. This is the first novel I bought in Jinjiang in full. I feel that the author writes very well and is eye-catching. The cold-faced and kind-hearted Yuan Heng, Wen Che who is not only in love but also a green tea lover, my favorite is Ming Jin. When I first read it, I unconsciously thought that she would be seduced by Lu, and then stood on the opposite side of the hero and heroine. I didn't expect that she was not bound by love, and had a state and a family in her heart. She really woke up in the world. She really made me cry to death. I hope the author can write better novels??
I really like Yuan Heng and Jiang Lanyue. Many female characters in them are well portrayed. I hope to see more stories like this. Come on, ma'am~
The female protagonist is so strong and the male protagonist is so good!
My sister-in-law is my lifelong enemy hahahahaha
Hahahaha, use your imagination. Yuanyuan can just sit on the throne of the empress. Let Prince Ling be the husband and say, I will raise you.
Goddess, please write more articles for the rest of your life.
It's a rare novel about a female protagonist who doesn't dress up as a man. It's well written but a little delayed by the title. I almost missed it because of the title~
I finished reading it in two days! ! ! It's really beautiful! The heroine is a truly good minister, has an independent personality and loves the common people. She is really well portrayed! Actually, I want to see more post-marriage extras. It was so hard in the front.
