[Gong's POV]
When Lu Siting returned from training on Delta Star, he discovered that the old man had arranged a marriage for him without asking.
No problem. Lu Siting had been expecting this, and he didn't care who his spouse was.
He only hoped they would be sensible. After all, they were marrying for mutual benefit. They could each live their own lives after the wedding, as long as nobody made things too ugly.
On the first night of their marriage, his new spouse knocked on his bedroom door.
Lu Siting: "?"
On the second night, someone knocked on his tightly shut door again.
Lu Siting, puzzled: "Coming again?"
Jiang Ning: "Mm."
Lu Siting hesitated. "But you cried so hard last night."
Jiang Ning: "..."
The third night, the fourth, the fifth, the sixth, the seventh...
Then one night, Jiang Ning didn't come. Lu Siting sat beneath the dim yellow light, not knowing what he was waiting for.

[Shou's POV]
Jiang Ning is a researcher with the Alliance's highest security clearance. After becoming entangled in a power struggle among academic factions, he nearly ended up in prison.
A friend of his mentor suggested he marry into the Lu family to lie low for a while.
Everyone said Lu Siting was unruly and impossible to deal with, a real menace,
but Jiang Ning found him more cooperative than expected: quiet, good in bed, and often away on business trips.
Jiang Ning conscientiously fulfilled his duties as Mrs. Lu. Apart from an aching back and sore waist, nothing much went wrong.
He'd made it through twenty years of hard study. This little bit of effort was nothing.
The final verdict came down, clearing Jiang Ning's name, and his deal with the old master Lu came to an end.
Jiang Ning received a notice from his research institute: he was to report to W City the next day.
Seeing how much weight he'd lost, Old Master Lu looked heartbroken. "You've been through a lot lately. The higher-ups were going to assign you to the Academy of Military Sciences a few days ago, but luckily I stopped them. Conditions on Alpha Star are too harsh, and my wayward son is difficult to get along with..."
After a long silence, Jiang Ning asked, "Is it too late to change my mind?"
Old Master Lu froze. "If you want to divorce..."
Jiang Ning's handsome face slowly reddened. In a quiet voice, he asked, "Could you change it back? I want to go be with him."
