[The author is hopeless at writing blurbs. This is roughly what the story is about, so please bear with me for now. I'll try to polish it tomorrow.]
Since the day Zhaoxi could remember, she had been Xuanzhu's medicine slave.
Xuanzhu was the most renowned poison master in the world. As the name suggests, he was both a healer and a poison expert, but he preferred concocting poisons. He was a figure of both righteousness and wickedness in the cultivation world.
During the ten years she spent by Xuanzhu's side, she not only took care of his daily needs, but also tested countless poisons for him.
She was utterly devoted to him, thinking she might earn a little pity from him. Instead, he gave her poisons that grew more and more deadly.
Unable to endure this life any longer, she secretly learned his medical and poison-making skills, then slipped away one night.
As it happened, Tianyan Sect, the foremost sect in the cultivation world, was recruiting disciples. To escape Xuanzhu and make a living, she went to the entrance examination. She had planned to use the medical skills she'd picked up to earn enough to get by, but accidentally placed her hand on the Spirit-Testing Stone and awakened a mutated spiritual root. The sect's founding ancestor immediately took her in as his own disciple!
Her path of cultivation was like having a cheat code, and she ascended all the way!
Xuanzhu thought Zhaoxi would come back once she couldn't take it anymore. After all, she had lived with him for as long as she could remember. She knew nothing of the mortal world and couldn't survive without him. Even if she didn't return, it didn't matter. He had merely lost an exceptionally useful medicine slave.
But as the days passed without her, he gradually went mad. Zhaoxi's image haunted him day and night. He wanted her back, and frantically searched for her, only to discover that his once-lonely girl had somehow become the foremost cultivator of the immortal sects.
He called out, "A-Wu, come back with me."
The young woman's gaze was cool as she pointed her Yinghuo sword at his throat and said flatly, "My name is Zhaoxi, not A-Wu. You've got the wrong person."
