Sleeping with the Wolves

Lin Ya recently bought a slave. He was tall and muscular, with beautiful golden eyes, but he was taciturn. The merchant asked for ten taels of silver, and Lin Ya haggled with scorn.

"Too expensive. He's only worth two taels!"

But the merchant had acquired the man by underhanded means, so he was a hot potato. In short, the merchant would sell him to anyone who paid!

And so the city lord's son, Lin Ya, gained a burly bodyguard with golden eyes.

He looked imposing. Even the huge black dog at the city gates, which Lin Ya was usually terrified of, hid from him and ran off with its tail between its legs!

Well, even if he was clumsy with his hands and feet and couldn't even scrub someone's back, he could ward off evil and scare away dogs. Two taels of silver seemed like a fair price.

Who knew what unexpected turns fate would take? His father, the city lord, suddenly died in the saddle, and then they discovered that his only younger brother wasn't the city lord's son.

So, pushed into the role whether he liked it or not, Lin Ya was next in line.

That was bad enough, but according to tradition, before taking office, the city lord had to go unarmed into a valley where wolves roamed and survive alone for a month. Only if he returned alive would he be deemed to have earned the Wolf God's approval and protection, and be allowed to take over.

No way! Absolutely not! He was afraid of even dogs...

But circumstances gave him no choice, so Lin Ya went into the mountains.

Who could have guessed that as soon as he entered, a giant white wolf would claim him!

He was pinned down to share a bed every night, and after a month of sleeping together, he finally discovered that the giant wolf could transform by the stream into a tall, muscular man with golden eyes!

But clearly, there was no escaping him now. Lin Ya could only sleep with the wolf night after night...
