[Rebirth] [Rekindled Love] [Mutual Secret Crush] [Healing]
On her hospital bed, Mu Chan thought back over her short life: terrible grades, a dead-end career, cancer at thirty with no money for treatment, and not even enough in her pocket to afford a burial plot.
"I give up treatment."
Without hesitation, she closed her eyes.
When she opened them again, she didn't see the King of Hell. She saw a leaking ceiling.
She had been reborn, with a chance to make up for the regret of not studying hard when she was younger.
She was reborn on the day the college entrance exam results came out. She had scored 238 points, and still couldn't get into school.
After finally finding a job that just about kept her fed, Mu Chan considered what other regrets from her previous life she might be able to make right.
As she ate plain fried rice, Mu Chan remembered:
She had a beloved, like the moon's pale light, who had died by suicide at eighteen.
Maybe she could be the heroine of a romance about saving someone.
The good news: Mu Chan succeeded. With her by his side, her beloved, who had lost his voice after an accident, regained his ability to speak and found hope again.
The bad news: After sleeping with him, Mu Chan, unable to bear the thought of living in poverty forever, took what she wanted and abandoned him.
Over the next ten years, Mu Chan worked hard and rose steadily through the ranks.
She bought insurance, saved money, and got a small home of her own: an old 42-square-meter apartment with a mortgage she could still afford.
Surgery successfully stopped the cancer from spreading, and she was well on her way to living long enough to retire and collect her pension.
But then layoffs and pressure to get married came one after the other. She fell behind on her mortgage, and when a blind date in a melon-like shape criticized her for being too old, she ran into the beloved she had abandoned.
Her beloved stepped out of a Maybach in a tailored suit and looked down at Mu Chan. The wheels hadn't crushed asphalt; they had run over the memory of Mu Chan's gold-digging face.
The good news: He still loved her.
The bad news: He hated her even more.
