◆ Spoiled, scheming heiress princess VS older Daddy-type ◆
-
Director Xue, who had always made films, deigned to take on a TV drama, and a palace-intrigue drama at that, the genre he detested most. The reason was simple: they were paying him too much.
Fortunately, the producer was an old acquaintance, the leads were his actor and actress friends, and he had business dealings with the younger generation of several investors' families, so no one dared to casually force a casting choice on him. The set was basically his domain.
Until that princess-syndrome girl parachuted in.
-
The producer thumped his chest and promised, "She's just a little girl! A mascot sent by the rights holder! Don't worry about her. I'll keep an eye on her and make sure she doesn't interfere with your schedule!"
Then, the very next day, the princess-syndrome girl changed the script and demanded a recast.
Xue Zheng said no. The little girl was sharp-tongued and kept needling him until his blood pressure went up and down. They argued every day on set.
During a break in filming, everyone chatted.
The award-winning actor playing the male lead joked, "A Zheng is over thirty, and he hasn't won a single argument with that young woman. I bet they'll end up fighting sooner or later."
He had no idea that the two of them were really "fighting" right then:
Sweat-drenched, tangled together, and rolling over each other.
Xue Zheng looked pleased as he kissed her and said, "How about it? Am I better than all of them?"
-
Three months later, filming wrapped smoothly. At the wrap party, Xue Zheng was all alone. Two days earlier, he had received a text:
"I've returned to Europe. It's been a pleasure working with you. I hope the show is a huge hit."
Brief and perfunctory, with not a hint of reluctance.
So she left. It wasn't as if either of them couldn't live without the other.
They met again at his younger sister's birthday party.
His sister pointed her out to him. "Look, that's the new girl your nemesis, Young Master Shen, is seeing. She's pretty. I hear she's a musician. I wonder if her voice is nice, too."
Nice? Of course it was.
When she teased him, she could make him furious. When she pouted, she could make his heart melt. When she was cuddled up to him, all she had to do was speak and he wanted to lay the whole world at her feet.
But once he came to his senses, Xue Zheng knew he was just one fish in her pond.
Now that she'd hooked a new fish, naturally she'd pretend not to know him.
Fine, fine. It wasn't the first time, after all. Then he'd just have to gut this fish, too.
Reader's Guide:
1. Both leads are not virgins. Ten-year age gap, significant difference in build.
2. The female lead is a pretend screenwriter and the real darling of everyone; the male lead is a real director and a hopeless romantic.
3. The female lead is fussy, puts her own interests first, and is a little menace. Fans of the male lead, stay away.
Theme: Those willing to humble themselves can ultimately rise above others.
