Have You Seen My Feathers?

Jiang Qian's true form was a golden sparrow. He kept his identity hidden, but soon after transferring schools, he met his new deskmate, Yin Juan.

His new deskmate was great in every way: handsome, diligent in his studies, and friendly to others. Except...

He would have been even better if he hadn't been Jiang Qian's natural enemy.

Jiang Qian and Yin Juan were famously at odds. It was almost impossible to catch the two of them getting along.

Jiang Qian was taciturn with everyone, but with Yin Juan, he was downright cold and distant.

Yin Juan was baffled.

His true form was a snake, supposedly the most cold-blooded and heartless creature of all, but he had never once slighted his deskmate.

Jiang Qian had no reason to dislike him at all.

Until one day, he saw pale golden feathers rise from Jiang Qian as he huddled in a corner.

The pale golden feathers shimmered in the dim light.

The feathers' owner, a young master renowned for his icy expression, blushed and darted his eyes away.

"Don't stare."

The two of them had gone to great lengths to hide their identities from each other, but in the end, Jiang Qian gave himself away by accident.

Once their identities were revealed, Yin Juan put an arm around Jiang Qian's shoulders and pulled him up from the ground, chuckling softly.

"I'm not going to eat you."

Jiang Qian had always thought Yin Juan was easy to get along with. For instance, if he noticed Jiang Qian had a question he couldn't solve, he would send him a detailed explanation, and if he was passing by, he would bring him dinner too.

Yin Juan's friend paused. The Yin Juan he knew was clearly aloof, cold, and heartless. Easy to get along with didn't describe him at all...

No one knew that Yin Juan had seen Jiang Qian long ago.

The boy stood quietly in the sunlight, his fluffy hair touched by a pale golden glow, as if soft feathers were floating all around him.

He was impossible to look away from.

Later, Yin Juan heard Jiang Qian was transferring schools, so he arranged for someone to leave a school brochure at the Jiang family's gate.

One day, after two years in the same class without ever speaking to him, Yu Fan asked Jiang Fangteng what kind of person he liked.

Jiang Fangteng said he liked someone obedient and well-behaved.

After that conversation, Jiang Fangteng found breakfast waiting on his desk every time he arrived in class. His homework would somehow be completed, and even his test papers would be marked with corrections.

Jiang Fangteng thought Yu Fan was pursuing him, but he was definitely straight.

To protect his straight-guy status, Jiang Fangteng tried to spend as little time around Yu Fan as possible. Then he realized...

Yu Fan was pursuing him as if it were a task. Once the task was done, he left without staying a second longer.

Jiang Fangteng was delighted by this.

Until one day.

Yu Fan's cousin fell for someone else, and Yu Fan finally ended his months-long stint as her gofer.

Only Jiang Fangteng, watching Yu Fan act as if nothing had happened, felt so dejected that he didn't even want to pick a fight anymore.

Jiang Fangteng: ? He got dumped.

One week later

Jiang Fangteng: I have to dump him back.

Half a month later

Jiang Fangteng: Please say something to me again.

Yu Fan: You're something else.
