The strange events began with the first snowfall of last winter.

Including Old Liu, who died before the snow fell, six people in the village had already met sudden, violent deaths.

The loss of six lives seemed to cast a cloud over Shatangyu that no one could dispel.

Though it had only been a few days since New Year's Eve, every household shut its doors at dusk, and not a soul could be seen in the streets.

It's said that neither of the first two groups of players who explored the Shatangyu instance made it past the first midnight.

For this sort of mystery-solving livestream, where one terrifying event is likely to follow another, Mu Rong Xun had prepared herself mentally long ago.

Even so, she got more than a few unpleasant surprises.

Most of them came not from the instance, but from another player: Yan Mingxiu.

As soon as midnight struck, Yan Mingxiu seemed to switch modes, transforming into a full-fledged villain.

One time, he claimed she was the bandit chief's wife he'd abducted and insisted on consummating their marriage.

Another time, he said the villagers had offered her to him as a sacrifice, and that he would rape her before killing her...

The third time was even worse: he stabbed the instance boss, causing them both to be hunted by countless plant spirits...

Mu Rong Xun was completely numb. There had to be something seriously wrong with that Yan guy.

They finally managed to escape into the Ghost Market, but one problem after another awaited them. It seemed that Shatangyu, and perhaps the entire instance, was shrouded in a thick fog...

2. This is not a traditional mystery. Much of the story describes the characters' experiences inside the instance.
