I Inherited an Apartment Complex, Then Became Seriously Ill

[Please don't read. On hiatus. I kneel.jpg] Yu Sui stayed up all night grinding through a management simulation game. The next day, she was told that she'd been bound to a System and rewarded with an entire Happy Neighborhood. Yu Sui, thrilled, thought, "After being broke for twenty-two years, am I finally going to become a landlady?!" But who could have guessed she'd be diagnosed with cancer, and in the late stages, no less! The System: It's okay, Host! You can complete missions to earn more life points! Yu Sui diligently takes on the System's missions. She's a caring big sister and a warm-hearted junior, a helpful neighbor and an all-around investor. The landlady life she imagined: waking up every day in a ten-meter-wide bed, gazing at the countless digits in her bank account, eating premium steak, heading to the gym to hire a handsome young trainer, and sipping 1982 vintage wine at a high-end restaurant in the evening. The reality: she has to screen tenants for good character and tend to their feelings, keeping them positive and upbeat. She's both their mom and their dad, a caring big sister and a warm-hearted junior, a helpful neighbor and an all-around investor. When they run into trouble, she helps! When they're feeling down, she cheers them up! When they get dumped, she plays matchmaker! And so on... System: Host, tenant XX needs your help! Yu Sui: I'd like to request a break... System: The tenant is overwhelmed by negative feelings. Host must resolve this within a month, or they will die of late-stage XX. Yu Sui: ...Okay, okay, got it, got it... As a landlady who frequently comes down with all kinds of strange terminal illnesses, Yu Sui soldiers on despite her poor health, staying strong and brave as she cares for her tenants with all her heart and soul! For this, she is awarded a medal for helpfulness! System: Great! Clap, clap, clap! Happy Neighborhood: Great! Clap, clap, clap! Yu Sui: ...Heh. P.S.: 1. It's set in a mostly fictional world. The novel's setting diverges somewhat from reality, so please don't read too much into it. 2. The male lead appears from time to time. The romance comes later, and he's mostly there to serve the plot. 3. The plot goes wherever it wants, and I'll do my best to make the logic work. (Don't scrutinize too closely.) (I kneel.) 4. Some things will be exaggerated a little for the sake of the story. Theme: As long as life goes on, so does the struggle.
