I Really Want to Hug You

Her side:

The first time I met him was at the hospital.

Qi Xinyang had injured her eyes. She could only vaguely make out the character "Bai" on his name badge, and she unconsciously murmured, "Bai..."

"You don't recognize it? The next two characters are pronounced Xixian," a nurse nearby teased her.

In fact, she couldn't see the next two characters at all.

"Xi, like watermelon? Xian, like flowers?"

Just as the nurse was about to tease her again, the young doctor explained, "It's Xian from Xixiancao, a Chinese medicinal herb."

Bai Xixian.

She silently repeated it to herself, curious about what the two characters looked like.

His side:

I remember her saying, "Dr. Bai, I really love the osmanthus tree downstairs from your place. In autumn, its fragrance is rich and sweet, and it makes you feel happy. If you head south along the tree, you'll see a little stall selling jianbing guozi. It's the best I've ever had. Across from the stall is a cake shop, and their cheese bread is absolutely incredible. You should try it sometime. There's an IMAX not far from there, too. I used to go there a lot when I was at university."

I remembered that she had gone to university in the south. I'd never seen an IMAX theater anywhere around my home, either, and I had no idea what she was trying to say with all those twists and turns.

Years later, when it came back to me without warning, I realized there wasn't even an osmanthus tree downstairs from my home.
