Hunting the Biologist

In 2020, biologists in Country A announced the preliminary success of experiments under the "Natural Selection Project." Humanity's fate would now be decided by the "Natural Selection" virus. The virus had a thirty percent chance of triggering mutations in humanity's ancestral genes, causing biological regression. In other words, thirty percent of humanity would regress into "other animals," repaying the debt humanity owed to nature.

The resulting survival crisis, humanitarian disaster, social unrest, and war... Even in the post-Natural Selection era of 2220, the repercussions had yet to subside.

Two hundred years later, Ding Shi, the young scholar responsible for the "Natural Selection Project," wakes from cryosleep. He is the last surviving biologist in the world.
