"If I say to a moment, 'Stay a while, you are so beautiful!' then you may put me in chains, and I will gladly walk toward my destruction! Then let the funeral bells ring, let your office be revoked, let the clock stop and its hands fall, and let my time come to an end!"
From Faust
"You are the conqueror of the world, beloved of the stars and everlasting as time."
On the second day after receiving the prophecy, Seraph tore down his own wanted poster at the city gate, turned toward the palace, and walked into a fate that had never been meant for him.
"Do you love sunsets?"
"I do!"
"But sunsets always fade away."
"Then I'll keep running toward them, all the way to the end of time, to the edge of the world."
Make it eternal, make it die, make it live again.
Reader's Guide:
1. An absolute main character. Most of the book can be read as having no romance. The romance is hinted at subtly for a long time, and the love interest only appears much later. The protagonist's orientation isn't fixed.
2. A travelogue through another world. The main plot follows the protagonist as he visits places around the world and pieces together its history. Includes a few POV sections.
3. The timeline is chaotic, very chaotic, because of the protagonist's nature and the world's setting. It's full of elaborate closed loops, so I strongly recommend not overthinking things before finishing the whole book.
4. He loves everything in the world equally.
5. Please don't apply Earth's ideas or common sense. This is Timulai, and there are no transmigrators here. The main story won't explain culture shock. I'll do my best to explain things in the author's notes, but explaining everything would take an entire book.
6. To make things easier to understand, most terms use familiar words from Earth, but don't take them literally...
