"Give me a chance?"
"Depends on my mood."
"Give me a chance?"
"I love you."

The first time Shen Xingning saw He Tinghan after transferring schools, he thought He Tinghan seemed pretty great and wanted to make him his.
A few days later:
"You like me?"
"Yeah! Give me a chance?" He Tinghan rested his elbow on the dining table and propped his head up with his hand, gazing at Shen Xingning with frank, burning eyes. Under the table, though, he used his foot to lift the hem of Shen Xingning's pants and rub it against his calf.
Shen Xingning pulled his leg back, stood up, then bent over and leaned close to He Tinghan. He patted He Tinghan's left cheek with his right hand and said, word by word, "De-pends-on-my-mood."
Gradually, Shen Xingning found himself unable to pull away. He had fallen for him.
At first, Shen Xingning thought he had hooked a big fish. Later, he realized he was the one who had been walking step by step into He Tinghan's trap.
Later, they parted with red-rimmed eyes. Their paths crossed briefly, then the tide receded at the end. A tribute to this encounter.

Five years later:
Shen Xingning and He Tinghan stood side by side at the roadside. Shen Xingning asked softly, "Will you still love me?"
"Give me a chance?" He Tinghan replied without hesitation, his voice low and amused.
"I love you." Shen Xingning looked up at him sincerely.
