[Proud, rebellious genius sniper bottom x Deep as the sea, stern commander top]
In an endless desert, young genius sniper Fu Yun is dropped alone into the world's toughest competition.
As a helicopter circles overhead, the silent man waiting for him beneath the boundless sky is his former instructor, Lin Ran, a former sniper champion.
How can one rein in a magnificent, peerless stallion of a prodigy so he can gallop freely and leap over every obstacle without losing his way? Only with reins and iron shoes.
Lin Ran is Fu Yun's reins and iron shoes, the beacon in the dark sea of his life.
And Fu Yun is the unsheathed blade Lin Ran cannot put down. He grips the sharp edge and, like a bladesmith, hones his blade every day, never giving up even when it cuts him, until he forges the sharpest blade in the world.
This is a story of absolute obedience, teaching and protection, and a bond that runs deep in the bones.
How does one unravel the loneliest soul in the world, the soul of the most unruly and rebellious genius? From teacher and student, to comrades in arms, and finally to lovers.
Plot version
Young police sniper Fu Yun finds it extremely difficult to follow the rules. A genius, a beautiful young man, arrogant about his talents, and a wild horse running free: these are all names that fit him.
By the time he reaches his eighth observer, his partner still can't keep up with him, and he's about to lose his chance to compete in the global police games. Former instructor Lin Ran, seated among the judges, says, "I'll be his observer at the world competition."
Retired sniper legend Lin Ran is actually willing to be Fu Yun's observer. Lin Ran says he's just helping out for a while, for the sake of honor and for his student. That is, until the two of them fight their way through the competition and return with the sniper division championship, to the astonishment of the whole world.
Later, after returning home, Fu Yun and Lin Ran face a series of hostage-taking incidents and the escalating threats of ruthless antisocial criminals. In City R, where the situation is most critical, they wage a continuous battle against terror...
Beyond life and death, Fu Yun spends every day figuring out how to switch positions. Unfortunately...
Lin Ran: Cadet, what position lets a sniper last the longest?
Fu Yun: Prone and concealed.
Lin Ran: Sniper?
Fu Yun: Here.
Lin Ran: As long as this observer can still stand, stay prone at my feet. Only I get to see you.
Fu Yun: Yes, sir!
Bottom Fu Yun doesn't play by the rules, has incredible sniping talent, and is almost helpless in close combat.
Top Lin Ran is a former special forces soldier with a meticulous mind, an eye on the whole field, and skills in all kinds of combat.
