Takeuchi Anzu (Zhizi): Princess of the Shogun; Shige Shige's fiancee (there's a secret behind it); a serious girl who ran away from home (secretly rebellious, scheming, and a sadist); above-average fighting skills; a brainless joy3 fan; Joui patriot (self-proclaimed).
Chuunibyou declaration: As long as the people of Edo can live in peace, I'll gladly work like an ox or a horse.
Inner thoughts: Heh heh heh. If I can kill that scoundrel, I don't care if the whole planet gets dragged down with him.
The Scoundrel: A high-ranking Amanto; cruel, petty, wicked, and, in some ways, clever; a lecher who aims to take control of Edo by breaking people's spirits; a fan of ethnic cleansing; Zhizi's lifelong enemy; the boss of this story.
The Twelfth Emperor: Zhizi's father; Edo's mascot and public face; swallows his anger but dotes on his daughter; gentle, but can be driven mad.

1. I've been rewatching Gintama lately and remembered an old idea I had. I just couldn't resist, so I'm claiming this spot for now.
2. I'm not good with history, so all the character details are made up. Don't read this for historical accuracy, but feel free to enjoy it and don't worry about out-of-character moments.
3. The plot will mostly unfold through everyday events with the main storyline woven in. But I haven't finished the anime yet, so I want to wait until I'm confident about the characters before updating in earnest.
4. I love writing angsty stories, but this will have a happy ending, a happy ending, a happy ending!
5. The heroine is cut from the same cloth as Takasugi, with self-destructive tendencies. I originally planned to have her work alongside him, but I really want to see what happens when someone like her is around the Yorozuya.
6. At first, because of Shoyo and the White Yaksha, her affection for Gintoki is maxed out. And then... well, after that... I'm still not sure what their relationship will become (but romance is planned, and a chaotic mix of relationships isn't out of the question (just kidding)). I'll take readers' thoughts into account.
7. I'm a slow writer and not great at witty banter. This is just an ordinary story, so don't force yourself to read it if it's not your thing.
