Starting from Zero as a Pro Gamer [Esports]

Xu Ningli, 18 years old, male. Hobbies: Ling Ye.

He got into a top-tier university to become a pro gamer, only to end up joining BUG, a bottom-ranked KPL team full of pretty faces.

On the very first day of his official announcement, he made a big show of talking himself up (and looking incredibly handsome),

which sent him trending and earned him a disciplinary penalty from the league.

Rookie interview: "Why did you choose to join BUG, player Yu Li?"

Xu Ningli: "Because... the captain is too handsome."

Just as everyone was writing off this pretty-boy team, he changed everyone's minds on the battlefield.

Playing a mage, he single-handedly set a new record for how many times a KPL pro had to check the bushes.

The enemy's Shield Mountain charged in with his teammates using Wolf Rush. Wang Zhaojun froze him halfway there, leaving him as an ice sculpture.

The enemy camped in the bushes to kill him, but his Mai Shiranui flashed into the brush and kicked them to death instead.

When five enemies chased him, his Shangguan Wan'er made a decisive move. She used her ultimate to fly to the teleportation circle, abandoned her teammates, and ran off by herself.

His teammate was low on health, so he tricked him into coming to mid lane to share the minions. The enemy jungler happened to come for a gank. Seeing the low-health player recalling under the tower, he confidently dived... only to be caught by Zhang Liang, who had been hiding in the bushes, and pinned down with his ultimate.

Just as everyone thought he was an irredeemable troll who'd sell out even his own teammates without hesitation...

He made a special trip from mid lane to the upper second tower just to block a Shark Cannon for his captain.

Viewer 1: "Friendship between teammates that could move all of China?"

Viewer 2: "Bullshit! If that's not love, I'll twist my own head off and let you play with it!"

PS:

1. An Honor of Kings esports story. Slow burn, slow burn, slow burn, and a little long. Anyone who's played a MOBA should be able to follow it.

2. All teams and characters in the story are fictional. Please don't bring outside drama here.

3. One-on-one, both leads have only been with each other, sweet (?).

4. For the sake of the author's convenience (laziness), the match timings and rules aren't entirely accurate. The matches are based on esports livestreams, using the version released just after Sang Qi came out.
