By the time Shen Xun dug Lu Haiyin out of the underground prison, she had only a breath left.
Who would have thought that the famed, ruthless commander of Zhaoye Court was a frail woman?
And who would have thought that the once-mighty Lady Lu would now be clinging to the back of an unknown wanderer, fleeing for her life in such a sorry state?
“You know, when someone is called a wanderer, it means they must have some trait that people can't ignore.”
“Even if they have nothing else going for them, at least they have to be good-looking.”
“Otherwise, they're just a drifter.”
Shen Xun turned his head halfway, looking surprised. “Lady Lu? Lady Lu? Why aren't you saying anything? Is something I've said displeasing to you?”
As soon as the words left his mouth, a chill brushed past his ear. A sharp weapon cut through the air with a piercing whistle. The person on his back had swung her sword to deflect a small metal dart.
“Stop babbling. What wanderer?” Lu Haiyin gasped, barely conscious. “Hurry up, or we'll be riddled with holes.”
Shen Xun: ...
A street loafer X a sickly beauty, a jianghu tale of frequent escapes east and west, and occasional efforts to save the world.
After the revival of the Great Qi, chaos began under the reign of Emperor Ai. Emperor Ai imprisoned good and worthy men and listened to slander. At the time, the treacherous Liang Song seized power. The crown prince and Chancellor Pei Nian plotted to kill him, but their plans were discovered, and they were killed instead. During the Dingxi era, Liang Song rebelled and usurped the throne, declaring himself emperor in Shangjing in the north and naming his state Chen. Emperor Ai fled south with the noble clans and moved to the capital, dying of illness the following year. At the time, Grand Tutor Li Qian brought the Tiger Tally and plotted to usurp the throne, proclaiming himself Emperor Qian. From then on, Great Qi was split into north and south, with the Yellow River as the border and neither side willing to yield. History calls this era “Southern Qi and Northern Chen.”
