The Cat Wants to Adopt Me, but I Refuse

Xia Zhi was reborn ten years in the past.

Back then, he was still an ordinary person, and his cat was still alive...

Word has it that a dazzling young fortune-teller has appeared in the capital. There's nothing he can't divine and nothing he gets wrong. His only unusual quirk aside, he's perfect in every other way, guaranteed to satisfy. As for what that quirk is, everyone who has met the master keeps quiet, wearing mysterious expressions.

One day, a big shot carefully makes his way to the agreed address to find the master. He looks up and sees only a young man by the wall, a black cat perched on his shoulder.

Dressed head to toe in cheap street-market clothes and wearing flip-flops, the young man is stuffing discarded empty bottles into a woven sack.

Big shot: ????

Seeing someone approach, Xia Zhi ties the sack shut, strokes the cat on his shoulder, and gives a calm, elegant smile. "Sir, would you like your fortune told? I've also started offering ghost-catching services. Fair prices, no tricks. If I don't catch anything, you don't pay."

"This is the ghost-catching master."

The black cat holds its head high and nods with dignity. "Meow."
