In the third year of Great Yan, at the peony banquet, the daughter of the Duke of Cheng, a woman who had always been utterly unremarkable, dazzled the entire capital with a single verse: "If our love is to last through time, why should we be together day and night?" After that, one masterpiece after another appeared:
"Rain Bell" captured the sorrow of parting through the ages; "To Huang Jifu" showed the longing between kindred spirits; "Prelude to Water Melody" stirred countless travelers' yearning for home... Not to mention works like "Rouged Lips" and "Climbing Feilai Peak," which were recited throughout Great Yan. As a result, Wen Yu, daughter of the Duke of Cheng, was hailed as the greatest female poet of all time.
Li Qingzhao, the real greatest female poet of all time, who had transmigrated here: "?"
I heard someone is passing off my poems as her own?
Well, she has some taste, but why are there other people's poems in there too?
And so, an anthology of Song Dynasty poetry appeared out of nowhere. It not only recorded the poetry of a dynasty overseas, but every poem in it was a masterpiece.
The people of Great Yan, who were fond of literature, gave it a fair chance and opened it to read, only to find that the very first page contained the editor's verdict on the recently famous poems of Wen Yu:
"Rain Bell": Though it follows the tune, the lyrics are unbearably vulgar.
The people of Great Yan: "?"
"The Magpie Bridge Immortal": Empty and unrealistic, completely out of touch.
The people of Great Yan who had praised the poem in an essay a few days earlier: "?"
"To Huang Jifu": Too many flaws to be considered first-rate.
The people of Great Yan rolling up their sleeves to beat up the author: "?"
What arrogance! If you can do better, then show us!
Then, suppressing their anger, they turned to the second page: Though the poems mentioned above are a mess, that doesn't mean someone can call them plagiarized. Below are the original poets and brief biographies.
The people of Great Yan, whose anger suddenly died down: "???"
Wow, this is explosive gossip!
#Hey, have you heard the gossip today?#
#I'm busy admiring "Green Jade Case," no time. Xin Qiji's writing is so good, I have to gush about him, sob sob sob. "I turned around, and there she was, where the lanterns were dim." What a beautiful line. Isn't he writing about me and my wife?#
#The lovey-dovey person above, get lost. Am I the only one wondering what the greatest female poet, Miss Wen, is thinking right now?#
Wen Yu, who according to the original story would rise higher and higher, win the favor of Great Yan's young officials and generals, and eventually provoke civil unrest: #%...@
