Best Friends: A History of Female Friendship in China

Inspired by A History of Women's Friendship, I wanted to write a history of friendship among Chinese women.

The timeline runs from antiquity through the Republican era and into the modern day.

The story covers female friendships across different dynasties, including Buddhist communities, bhikkhunis, princesses, female officials, Taoist priestesses, and women in the Ming and Qing dynasties who formed poetry societies and exchanged poems.

Theme: Unity, cooperation, and daring to lead. A woman-centered perspective
