*Coercive Possession / obsessive, sweet-on-the-surface, dark-underneath male lead x heiress
In school, Shen Henian was brilliant and immaculate, an honor student whose name appeared at the top of the honor roll and on the podium. Tall and straight as a poplar, he seemed impossible to reach.
Shu Yin had nothing but a pretty face. She was a regular on the disciplinary list and abused her beauty to get her way, treating Shen Henian like a dog, summoning him and dismissing him at will. Even when she went on dates in the rain, she made him wait outside holding an umbrella.
Yet the untouchable flower was willing to bow his head for her, doing everything she asked with joy.
Someone else did her homework, and she got plenty of admiring looks. Shu Yin was happy to enjoy herself until she found the diamond ring Shen Henian had bought with his scholarship. Only then did she realize she'd gone too far. In a panic, she fled abroad to study.
In her seventh year overseas, Shu Yin was summoned home by her parents. Amid the tense atmosphere, she accepted the hopeless situation.
Her family had gone bankrupt overnight. More dramatic still, her once-impoverished ex-boyfriend, Shen Henian, had risen to become the head of a powerful conglomerate. He wielded power and influence and had a bright future. He was now her family's only way out.
The night she went to Shen Henian to ask for help with the family business, rain and mist filled the air. Shu Yin wore only a thin silk dress and shivered in the dark, cold night.
She waited half an hour before Shen Henian arrived in a suit. His handsome face was expressionless. After watching her coldly for a long moment, he finally bent down.
"Yinyin," he said warmly, though his tone was detached. Shen Henian reached out and pinched her chin, forcing her to look up. In a calm, unhurried voice, he asked, "Why aren't you running away anymore?"
