She Came with Spring

Completed: "If nobody else wants you, I do."

Qian Yin had always been invisible.

She was the unnecessary daughter in her parents' eyes and the boring class monitor to her classmates, until one rainy day, Wen Xin redirected the punch she had aimed at Gao Kai and held an umbrella over Qian Yin instead.

The underachiever Wen Xin smelled like sunshine.

She took Qian Yin to an underpass covered in star stickers, leaned close enough for their breaths to mingle during sit-ups, and slipped the hated tomatoes into Qian Yin's bowl.

But when Qian Yin arrived at Wen Xin's lavish birthday party carrying a pair of handmade socks, she realized that the distance between them was measured in more than school uniforms and designer dresses.

-"There are eight schools in the city, and we still found each other."

From a rain-soaked school uniform to a bloodstained white coat, the third mint she received from Wen Xin finally let Qian Yin taste the sweetness of being alive.
