I Got My Hands on the Protagonist of an Esports Power Fantasy

Xu Xingyang had held the top spot on the Asian server's ranked ladder for years, wielding a sniper rifle with astonishing skill.

When he later stepped onto the professional stage, he won the league championship and the Most Valuable Player award in his debut year. He was an undisputed esports prodigy.

But before the trophy he'd just won had even had time to warm up in his hands, Xu Xingyang felt a sudden pain in his chest. His vision went black. When he woke up, he was sitting in front of a computer, crying, while a stream of comments called him a useless noob.

Xu Xingyang wiped away his tears and gathered his thoughts. He realized he was in a competitive gaming novel starring a male lead, and that across two million characters, his only description was: "A useless pretty boy who keeps chasing the male lead to sell their ship and play up their bromance."

Being a disposable character was fine. Playing up a bromance was fine, too. But being called useless was not.

To shake off the noob label as quickly as possible, Xu Xingyang gripped his mouse and went alone to the housing area where the protagonist was. He declared loudly, "I'm going to cling to Wild."

The comments exploded:

[Holy crap, why is this clingy pest back again?]

[If this noob can get close to Wild, I'll call him Dad!]

Xu Xingyang pulled off some incredible moves, closing in despite the protagonist's team laying down suppressive fire. As the comments kept piling up, he leaped from the building and landed right in the male lead's arms, as if deliberately setting himself up for a collision. "Big brother, this world is too dangerous. We'd better leave together."

"Let's use this firework to mourn our tragic love."

The grenade exploded:

Player ranking panel--

Xu Xingyang: 79/100, highest career score

Xiao Mingye: 80/100, lowest career score

On screen, Xu Xingyang looked modest:

"I just wanted to cling to Wild. I didn't expect to outrank him by accident."

"Sigh, my next little goal is to win a championship."

"No rush. I'll play it safe until I get first place, then go lie in wait for him."

A few days later, Xu Xingyang logged in and received a special friend request.
