Preorder column: A Person in the Jianghu, Codename 007. Please add it to your favorites! Blurb at the end.
Blurb: Yan'er, an assassin with the Rongyin Opera Troupe, spends every day wading through wind and blood. Her greatest wish is to live a peaceful, ordinary life.
At last, during a difficult mission, Yan'er fails to assassinate her target. Gravely wounded, she collapses in an alley, and as she closes her eyes, all she can think about is whether she'll see tomorrow's sunrise.
Luckily, she wakes up as she'd hoped, with a man sitting beside her. He smells of medicine and has a lean face, refined manners, and handsome features. The man who saved her is named Xun Yu. He claims to be a doctor, but unfortunately, he is disabled and has to get around in a wheelchair.
Gazing at his handsome face, dark eyes, and frail body, Yan'er is overcome with sympathy. She secretly vows to use her martial arts skills to take good care of her savior.
Worried about Xun Yu's frail health, Yan'er takes care of all the cooking, cleaning, and laundry, refusing to let him lift a finger. Seated in his wheelchair, Xun Yu looks at her with pitiful dark eyes and coughs repeatedly. "Thank you. Without you, I wouldn't be able to go on living."
But once, twice, and then again, Yan'er sees with her own eyes Xun Yu flick a golden needle from his sleeve and effortlessly deal with the troublemakers who come after them. As soon as he sees Yan'er, Xun Yu clutches his chest, his handsome face pale. "Yan'er, I'm so scared."
Yan'er: ...Yeah, right!
Later, Yan'er discovers that the frail doctor is merely the man's public identity. In secret, he is a trusted spy for Feng Shuyue, the current court's Assistant Chief Councillor, specializing in investigations. He has faced more vicious criminals than she can count. She's the only one who thinks he's frail.
Xun Yu takes her hand and says pitifully, "I really am weak, and I really am disabled."
Yan'er swears countless times that she'll never believe he's frail again.
But on that rainy night, Yan'er sees Xun Yu kneeling on the ground, covered in blood and leaning on his sword, forcing a weak smile in her direction.
Yan'er rushes toward him without hesitation. Suddenly, she feels that this time, Xun Yu really needs her.
[Strong body, broken will, kind-hearted assassin X disabled body, unbreakable will, scheming doctor]
Preorder blurb: Chu Lingwei, a child forsaken by heaven, has spent ten years working herself to the bone. At last, in the Age of Declining Dharma, where wicked cultivators are everywhere, she gets into the last orthodox sect known to the jianghu: the Wuxiang Sect.
She thinks she's secured a golden job in the righteous world, but on her very first day, her faith crumbles. The legendary Wuxiang Sect turns out to be a sect with three things missing: no grounds, no master, and no resources!
Her first cultivation assignment is to infiltrate the notorious Demonic Cult, and the secret manual her senior brother gives her to keep her alive is called The Infiltrator's Guide to Self-Cultivation!
With nowhere else to turn, Chu Lingwei tearfully begins her life as 007, an undercover agent at the bottom of the Demonic Cult.
She only wants to stay alive, but misfortune dogs her every step. Just when Chu Lingwei has painstakingly worked her way up to become the Demonic Cult's chief personal attendant, she's forced to become a sacrificial offering to the cult's young master, rumored to be cold and brutal.
Bound up like a dumpling, given a red veil for appearances, and tossed onto the young master's bed, Chu Lingwei silently recites The Infiltrator's Guide to Self-Cultivation. She wonders whether she should follow the rules of undercover work and bite her tongue to kill herself before she's tortured to death.
But when the veil is lifted and Chu Lingwei sees the Demonic Cult's young master's face, she cries out in shock:
"Senior Brother?!"
No wonder the undercover mission went so smoothly. So there were people on her side everywhere?
And it turns out there really are agents 001 through 006 before Agent 007!
Theme: Stay true to your original aspirations, and you will eventually find what you seek.
I finished it in one go, and as someone who often reads new articles on ancient Chinese novels, I couldn't help but open a small account to comment. The plot is indeed slow-burning, but fortunately the writing is very good and makes people want to keep reading. Once you keep reading, you will become more and more addicted. Except for the process of revealing the identity of the county magistrate in the middle, which is a bit long-winded, the plots in other places are very interlocking and exciting, and you can even see the foreshadowing being recycled after ten chapters. On the other hand, the character design is very good, the supporting characters are well-shaped, and have distinct personalities. Except for the county magistrate, all the members have online IQs, which makes it very enjoyable to watch. I can't believe it's the author's first time writing. The writing is really good and the plot is getting better. I hope the plot will be more exciting after the new characters appear.
The meaning is still unfinished, there is chivalrous spirit, courage and love for children.
I want to see Boss Mei's extra story!
I want to see Mei Fanghuai's extra story!
I like the heroine's character very much, she is both strong and kind
Zhu needs a psychiatrist
The prologue feels like it doesn't connect with the main text.
