The Depressing Savior

Late at night, Xu Zhuo received a phone call. Wind howled on the other end, and a man's voice came through, low and hoarse: "Dr. Xu, by the time you get this call, I'll be dead." Xu Zhuo lowered his eyes with a smile and softly replied, "Then congratulations. You've finally found your freedom." After that, some "not quite normal" clients started showing up at Xu Zhuo's psychological clinic: A "painter" covered in blood who stubbornly came to his follow-up appointment wearing bandages; A boy who drowned in his dreams day after day, yet only wanted to ask him, "Am I a bad kid?"; And another man with a smiling voice and hands covered in knife scars, who sat in front of him and murmured, "Mentor, you look so good today, it makes me want to kill someone again." They all shared one identity: They were among the top ten on the leaderboard of a certain horror infinite game, dangerously insane and even more dangerous as killers, known as the anomalies who should never have survived. But they all came looking for one person, The person who had given them a name tag, a few words, and one chance to believe, "You're not beyond saving." They called him: "Mentor." Until one day, the game selected a newcomer. The newcomer's name was: "Xu 'Mentor' Zhuo." At that moment, the entire game world fell silent for three seconds. The game's livestream chat exploded: "Is that... the Mentor?!" Later, someone saw him walking through a dungeon, his silver-rimmed glasses dusted with grime, his wrist slender, yet his hand gripping a bloodstained knife. He looked like a doctor who healed madmen, and also like the source that made them mad. He is the madmen's salvation, the monsters' faith. The "Mentor" from the livestream has finally entered the game himself. Theme: The power of the mind is limitless.
