After eight years apart, Jiang Ling had imagined what it would be like to see Chen Zhengye again.

After reuniting with Chen Zhengye, Jiang Ling happened to see an interview video about him.
He had been in the entertainment industry for less than two years then, and still carried an unpolished arrogance.
The host asked if he had ever liked anyone. Sitting on a tall stool, he nodded lazily.
The host pressed him: "What happened after that? Did you get together?"
"After that?" He thought for a couple of seconds, then replied carelessly, "After that, I just stopped liking them."
Jiang Ling didn't know who he was talking about, and didn't give it much thought, until the two of them faced off in the darkness
Her voice was flat, and her words were cruel beyond belief.
"I lied to you twice. The first time was when I was fourteen. I smiled and called you big brother, while secretly rolling my eyes. The second time was when I was eighteen. I promised I would never leave you, but I didn't mean it at all. For these eight years, I've prayed every day that I wouldn't run into you again. Not because I felt guilty, but simply because I didn't want to explain."
After a long silence, Chen Zhengye looked at her and suddenly smiled.
"Do you know what I've been doing all these eight years?"
His voice was low, and his smile never reached his eyes.
"Waiting for a sincerity that never existed, hoping a liar would come back."
