Misty Mountains

When Ji Lanxin was young, she was beautiful, passionate, and ambitious, but not very smart.

She also lacked self-awareness, hoping to use her affection, which was more vanity than love, to climb the social ladder and win over Xie Linchuan.

Of course, she failed and became the butt of other people's jokes.

Fine. She'd embarrassed herself enough for one lifetime. There was no point staying. She'd flee Shencheng overnight, even if she had to carry a whole train on her back.

Let's pretend the flowers never bloomed and I was never here.

Later, at a signing ceremony for a major project, she accompanied her boss and saw Xie Linchuan again.

The man who had once seemed impossibly out of reach was still standing onstage, dressed in a suit and radiating elegance.

They ran into each other after the ceremony. The man looked at the calm, composed woman and spoke in a low voice:

"You've changed your name and run away for all these years. Do you really plan to pretend you don't know me for the rest of your life?"

In the dim underground parking garage, she sounded uninterested, her tone so flat it was as if she were talking about someone else.

"Yeah. I was young and stupid back then. My brain was broken. It's fixed now."

Naivety born of ignorance is shameless, and a crush everyone knows about is a form of bullying.

Unfortunately, she saw the light too late and understood too late. She had turned the freest, most vibrant years of her youth into a joke, yet still pitied herself, thinking everyone was picking on her.

Looking back, every past grievance and complaint about life's unfairness was clearly something she had brought upon herself.
