The Real Daughter Just Wants to Pilot Mechas

Jiang Momo had spent eighteen years scavenging trash on a barren planet when one day she suddenly learned that she was the little daughter of the wealthiest family on the main planet, switched at birth with another child.

That very day, she packed up all the things she'd collected over the years and happily followed the old butler who had come to fetch her.

But it was obvious that the wealthy family preferred their fake heiress, who was graceful and well-mannered, to their younger daughter, who was covered in grime and clutching a pile of junk as if it were treasure.

On her first day back, Jiang Momo received a stern warning from her family not to try to steal the fake heiress's identity or inheritance.

Jiang Momo simply nodded, unconcerned, and on the very first day she obtained residency on the main planet, she signed up for the Central Mecha Academy, said to have the toughest admissions requirements of all.

·

On the day the Central Mecha Academy opened admissions, Jiang Momo was lucky enough to find a registration line with hardly anyone in it amid the crowded queues.

After submitting her application, Jiang Momo passed test after test and was successfully selected to become a... mecha manufacturing instructor.

Jiang Momo stared at her staff badge. "...Wait, I came here to learn how to pilot a mecha. I don't want to teach people how to build them!"

·

Rumor had it that a teacher at Central Mecha University had suddenly appeared, capable of building legendary mechas. She even had a whole stash of rare materials that had long since gone out of production.

Hoping to help their precious daughter shine at the end-of-term mecha competition, the wealthy family pulled every string they could until they got the teacher's comm number and address.

Then, at the address they'd obtained at great expense, they found Jiang Momo bent over that familiar pile of junk, studying it intently.

Without even looking up at the people who had suddenly arrived, Jiang Momo said, "An A-class mecha costs two million, an S-class costs ten million, and a legendary one costs a hundred million."

The wealthy patriarch roared, "We're your family!"

Jiang Momo: "Family pays double."
