Springtime in the Wild

[Older Man] [Rekindled Romance] [Self-Delusion] [SC]

Gentle, strong-willed female reporter × unruly, handsome leader of an emergency response team

Xia Yili never expected to run into Bian Shuo again at work.

His long legs, clad in a black uniform, easily stepped over the cordon. As he put on his gloves, he asked his assistant whether anyone had moved anything at the scene.

She held a microphone. She should have gone forward, but instead she instinctively took two steps back.

-

She tried her best to hide in the crowd, but his peripheral vision still caught sight of her with ease.

The cameraman urged her to hurry up and interview him.

She took a step forward. He looked away and brushed past her coldly.

-

A series of bombings in Jiang City made headlines across the country.

Her superiors insisted she get an exclusive interview with the head of the emergency management bureau's incident response team.

After a long hesitation, she steeled herself and dialed the number.

"Hello, how can I help you?"

There was a long silence on the other end.

The clock ticked on.

At last, the man gave a faint, mocking laugh and said coolly, "Comrade Reporter, do you know what time it is?"

-

At one in the morning, the mountain road twisted through the darkness.

Xia Yili stood by the roadside, certain she must be crazy.

In the night, the hazard lights flickered dimly.

Wearing a short skirt and high heels, she shivered in the cold wind.

And when he slammed the car door and got out, then coldly tied his coat around her waist...

She thought he must be crazy too.

-

Bian Shuo thought that only hatred remained between them.

But when she appeared in his life again, he realized...

That sharp-edged love and pain had never truly healed.

"Spring lies in ruins.

You are the only wild stream that flows through me."
