In 2098, Earth collided with a strange celestial body in an unknown dimension.
A reflection high in the sky remained forever out of reach, while an unseen enemy descended through the cracks.
In August 2120, Cocoon No. 4 hatched. The Northern Base was wiped out overnight, and Yu Zhou lost his mentor and his lover. Howling winds swept away the last cries for help, and the magnificent human fortress crumbled to dust on the snow-white ice field.
That November, Xiao Xingchuan returned from outside the city and was forced to take part in the awakening operation for Yu Zhou, a person of special importance. Another person's ability swept him into the chaotic currents of Yu Zhou's memories, where he saw Yu Zhou kissing his ex-boyfriend goodbye on the eve of the Northern Base's destruction.
Xiao Xingchuan: ?
Everyone else: ???
Can someone explain why the person Yu Zhou was kissing looks exactly like their Captain Xiao?
Worse still, because of this discovery, Xiao Xingchuan was forced to become the guardian of Yu Zhou, a human-shaped weapon.
Xiao Xingchuan, at first: I'm not your ex-boyfriend. Stop following me.
Xiao Xingchuan, after a while: Being a substitute is out of the question. Being a substitute for someone who might be my brother is even more out of the question.
Xiao Xingchuan, another month later: ...I suppose we could try dating, as long as you can tell me apart from him first.
Xiao Xingchuan, in the end: Whatever. The world's about to end anyway, so come here and give me a hug, Yu Zhou.
The top: A force of nature who wants to retire every day, gets annoyed by everything, and acts whenever something gets on his nerves.
The bottom: Also a force of nature, but low-energy and a little slow, and a little lovesick for just one person.
Xiao Xingchuan (top) x Yu Zhou (bottom), each other's one and only. The world won't actually end. HE.
*Not your typical supernatural abilities. Science fiction, though basically pop science.
I'm not good at coming up with interesting titles or writing intriguing blurbs. I tried with this one, but it still doesn't look very interesting, tut.
The proper title is High Heaven, from the ancient Hebrew "highest heaven," or "the tenth heaven," the realm where God appears, the upper sphere of truth and wisdom. The idea came to me years ago while reading The Divine Comedy.
The whole story is drafted. I'll build up a bit more of a buffer before starting.
My goal is to surprise you a little with the plot and worldbuilding :)
Theme: The way we see the world determines the future we have.
