The Internet's Most Popular Paper Doll Is Just a Supporting Character

As the next head of the Kamo family, Kamo Ibuki was undeniably a gifted young boy who had inherited Blood Manipulation. Yet beside the Six-Eyed Gojo, he seemed far too ordinary. Then, at age seven, disaster struck without warning. His right leg was amputated, leaving him disabled. Abandoned by his family to fend for himself, Kamo Ibuki became utterly useless. On the day he was stripped of his position as next head, he understood what was going on thanks to a strange voice that had suddenly appeared inside his mind: This world was a vast sandbox whose course was controlled by multiple manga. His character was unpopular, had low reader appeal, and was completely expendable. So, guided by the popularity rankings, the author had decided to erase his existence. “If you want to survive, you have to become popular and enter the main story!” “Based on our calculations, the next voting period is...” And so began a death race in which survival was determined by popularity! * For twenty-two years, Kamo Ibuki planned meticulously and proceeded step by step, yet reader forum opinions of him remained divided. So he kept learning from his mistakes and adjusting his methods, all to become more popular. He did well, indeed. But just as everything was about to reach its end, his will to survive became inversely proportional to his popularity. System: No offense, but how did a healthy, upbeat System like me end up raising such a warm-faced, cold-hearted lunatic as the protagonist of a side story? “Like dessert going into a second stomach, saving others and saving yourself can never be compared.” “I don’t have the strength to do it.” //His leg is genuinely disabled. Kind-looking but cold-hearted, twisted and obsessive. //Different worlds coexist but remain separate, with a major crossover later on. //Constructive comments on strengths and weaknesses are welcome. Please don’t give me writing advice. [Content Warnings]: 1. The protagonist is pansexual, but overall he’s a better fit with male characters. 2. Slow pacing, many original settings, extremely depressing, and lots of content outside the original story. 3. The protagonist is thirty during the Shibuya Incident, and some characters who have a crush on him are older than he is. 4. (Added 2025-03-17) Earlier chapters already contained ambiguous moments without an explicit romantic relationship. The protagonist is not opposed to romantic interest, and Chapter 351 mentions that a relationship with a potential love interest may develop. The story will confirm a relationship as the plot calls for it. The ending is undecided. The old blurb hadn’t been updated in a long time, and its absolute wording may have caused misunderstandings. I apologize. 5. Kind additions in the comments are welcome.
