My Father Is the Ninth Thousand-Year Lord

My name is Su Bingqing. I always thought I was no different from the families at the head of the village who never knew where their next meal was coming from.

Then, when I was around ten, disaster struck my hometown. As my mother lay on her deathbed, she took my hand and told me a secret. The notorious eunuch who now held power over the court, Duke Wei, the so-called Lord of the Nine Thousand Nine Hundred and Ninety-Nine Years, was my father.

They say my mother and father had been childhood sweethearts.

Before leaving, my father slept with my mother, then went off to become a eunuch.

I kowtowed three times at my mother's grave, then took the keepsake and set off for the capital to find my father.

Su Bingqing reached the capital and met the man known as the Lord of the Nine Thousand Years. He also met the current emperor.

The emperor was a boy about his age.

At the time, Su Bingqing wondered how he could be so skinny, with nothing but skin and bones after fleeing famine all the way here, and why the emperor was so thin, too.

Back then, Su Bingqing couldn't understand the complicated look in the young emperor's eyes. But years later, in the prison of the Court of Judicial Review, he suddenly understood.

It was a look filled with fear and hatred.

Could anything frighten an emperor more than a powerful eunuch suddenly having a biological son of his own?

So sweet talk could be a lie.

So their supposed mutual love had all been fake.

So he'd wanted me dead from the very first time we met...

In the winter of the twelfth year of Taihe, the disgraced official Su Bingqing took his own life in prison, at the age of twenty-one.

It's me again.

My name is Su Bingqing. I think I've been reborn.
