Skylark

I wished to be a sparrow among the clouds, yet ended up a bird in a cage.

As a child, Chang An was a little girl who cried easily. Yet she loved dressing like a gaudy peacock, and whenever the other children teased her, she would return home in tears.

Her mother would tease her with a rhyme.

"Gold beads, silver beads, An'an loves to drop water beads."

Chang An would feel embarrassed and stop crying with a sniffle. After a while, the rhyme became a surefire way to stop her tears. Whenever children in other houses cried at night, she would lean out the window and shout, "Gold beads, silver beads, someone's dropping water beads!"

More often than not, the crying child would stop, then laugh at Chang An as she was chased and scolded by the onlookers.

So when she said goodbye to Fu Ping for the last time, she smiled and said, "Gold beads, silver beads, Fu Ping loves to drop water beads..."

But he didn't laugh. Instead, he cried even harder, his body shaking uncontrollably.

Chang An couldn't understand. That trick had worked on him before, so what had changed?

But she never got the chance to find out.

#Tragic ending. The leads don't hurt each other.

Theme: Fate is unpredictable.
