You can take this as a story that really happened, or you can consider it entirely fictional. However you choose to see it, the deity in each person's heart will guide them toward the light. The story begins when the painter Bai Yueli is inadvertently commissioned to draw portraits of suspects in the dozens of murders that suddenly take place at Zhongzhou Martial Academy, in the heart of Jiuzhou. It follows Bai Yueli's experiences as she gets caught up in the case and, through a twist of fate, awakens her "chosen" nature. To fulfill her mission and discover why she needed to be awakened, she sets off with her partner on a fantastical journey involving the Divine Realm, the Underworld, the Spirit Realm, the Demon Realm, and the human world.
