After Marrying the Male Lead's Younger Brother in a Period Novel

Wen Tan transmigrated into a book, and not just any book: she became a deranged supporting villainess in a period drama.

The original character was infatuated with the male lead. To get close to him, she married his sickly younger brother, then embarked on a campaign of outrageous mischief.

After the male lead’s brother died, the villainess tried to use certain means to get the male lead into bed and make him take responsibility. Unfortunately, he saw through her. With his brother gone, he no longer had to hold back, and the deranged villainess met a rather grim end.

The timing of Wen Tan’s transmigration couldn’t be worse. The story has reached the wedding night, after the villainess has already married the male lead’s sickly younger brother. She even has a drug that will put him to sleep. Once she knocks him out, leaving him completely unaware, she plans to go after the male lead.

Wen Tan: …

What a disaster! How did she get so unlucky?

There’s no way she’s causing trouble. This is a period novel about the male lead’s struggle and success. In the future, he’ll seize his opportunities and become a fabulously wealthy tycoon.

Wen Tan will be a dutiful sister-in-law. When the male lead’s brother passes away, she can make a graceful exit, and maybe even get compensation. Then she can settle down to a good life.

That’s what she does, but somehow things take a bizarre turn.

Wen Tan never expected that, after she’d already moved out, the male lead would come knocking on her door one night. He fixed her with a shadowy gaze and said, “You wanted a stand-in, didn’t you? He and I look alike. Wouldn’t I be a better choice?”

Wen Tan: …

There’s a lot packed into that sentence. Give her a moment to process it.

Notes:

① They’re both virgins at first, but later the heroine won’t be, while the hero will remain one.

② The heroine is the original character, and there’s only one of her.

③ She’s not a strong heroine or a female lead who dominates the story, but she will have her own career.

Theme: No matter what circumstances we find ourselves in, we should stay true to our original selves
