1. On the first day of college, Xia Yu, who has been single and flying solo his whole life, falls in love at first sight with his cool, handsome roommate.
His friends all offer advice, telling him to study "108 Ways to Flirt with Men," "Three Sentences to Make a Man Devoted to You," and "Moves No Man Can Resist."

So he boldly makes his move.
And so:
"Yan Lin, my computer's broken. Can I use yours?"
"Yan Lin, I lost my meal card. Can I go with you?"
"Yan Lin, I forgot my bath towel. Can you get it for me?"
Every time, the other guy's response is a chilly "Mm."
2. In other people's eyes, Yan Lin is incredibly handsome, but he's also a walking air conditioner. Ever since starting school, he's turned down countless admirers.
When Xia Yu's friends hear about his flirting tactics, they all choke in unison: You'll never win Yan Lin over like that.
As time goes by, Xia Yu starts doubting himself too, and even wonders if he should give up.
Then one day, he hears that Yan Lin's best friend confessed to him, got rejected, and was blocked.
He didn't even get a chance to meet up afterward and make peace.
Xia Yu looks at the message Yan Lin sent him on WeChat.
"I have something to do tonight, so I won't be back."
"Computer password: 240907."
"Your meal card is on the table."
"And remember to get your bath towel."
Yan Lin is such a nice guy.
Wiping the moisture from the corner of his eye, Xia Yu decides to stop pursuing him, bury his feelings, and just be friends from now on.
3. To keep his feelings from showing, he has no choice but to find ways to put some distance between them. He starts eating lunch by himself and checks twice every time to make sure he has his towel and clothes.
He even avoids basketball games whenever he can.
With far less time spent together, their relationship seems to grow much more distant.
Then one day, after class, Yan Lin walks past him without saying a word.
Xia Yu mocks himself: Maybe we can't even be friends anymore.
The next second, Yan Lin, who excels at every kind of extreme sport, is always the MVP at basketball games, and has lightning-fast reflexes, falls flat on the ground right in front of him.
And it looks like he hurt himself pretty badly.
Bonus scene:
One evening after they get together, Xia Yu is gaming in the canyon with his friends as usual, completely absorbed in the match.
Yan Lin suddenly says, "I checked earlier."
Xia Yu answers without thinking, "Checked what?"
"Your bed is broken today."
