Xiang Wan is a workaholic who became the star dentist at Zhiyun Dental Clinic at a young age.

Chen Jinghe is a veterinarian. His greatest joy in life is spending time with cats and dogs, and his mother mocks and scolds him almost every day.

Both of them are in the same boat, so one day they're suddenly set up on a blind date. Xiang Wan reluctantly takes a day off work and goes to the agreed-upon restaurant, but no one shows up, even by nightfall.

She slowly lets out a breath. Crack!

Several unopened toothpicks lie on the table, broken through no fault of their own.

Standing someone up on the first date. Great.

For work-related reasons, Xiang Wan and Chen Jinghe have no choice but to live together for a while.

They're polite to each other, and get along surprisingly well.

With both their families pushing marriage and relationships to the max, their eyes meet, and an idea forms.

When Chen Jinghe gets another call from an elder, his mother says sarcastically, "If you can get a partner, I'll go burn incense at a temple."

Chen Jinghe leans back on the sofa, replying in a casual, dismissive voice. Out of earshot of the phone, though, he presses his palms together, practically ready to kneel and beg the perfect witness to back him up.

Xiang Wan raises an eyebrow, glances over, takes his phone, and chats warmly with Auntie Chen for half an hour.

When she finishes, Xiang Wan's expression turns cold as she tosses the phone back onto the sofa.

Bonus scene:

Later, whenever anyone brings up Chen Jinghe's relationship, he smugly introduces her to his friends: "This is my wife!"

Xiang Wan hears from a friend that the online fans of the "Drunk in the Evening Breeze" couple are shipping them hard. With a calm expression, she glances at the screen and says, "It's only a marriage of convenience. Don't take it seriously."
