She Pretends to Be Good

She Pretends to Be Well-Behaved

Xu Mian has seen Lu Jingxing three times.

The first time, the little girl went with her grandfather to deliver tea to Old Master Lu at the Lu residence. In a traditional courtyard, a boy of fifteen or sixteen sat in a huanghuali wood chair, dressed in black with white buttons. He flicked his fingers lightly as he lazily fed the carp in a pond, his eyes weary and melancholy. He looked like a refined young nobleman straight out of the last century.

The second time, she was walking past an internet cafe with her schoolbag on her back. A glamorous campus belle sat on Lu Jingxing's lap, a cigarette between his fingers. Through the thin haze of smoke, the boy's features seemed even more exquisite than the girl's. His smile was reckless and unrestrained, with a distinctly roguish air.

The third time, she woke up aching all over in Lu Jingxing's bed. Their eyes met, and the boy's gaze was sharp and deep, like a leopard's fixed on its prey, sending shivers down Ruan Qi's body and raising goose bumps all over.

Later, she paid the price for sleeping with Lu Jingxing.
