The Honeymoon Phase of Love

The first time Lu Lu saw him was in his bed.

He had just finished five hours of basketball practice that day and was so tired he could have crawled under the covers and fallen asleep instantly. He never imagined that when he lifted his familiar blanket, there would be a girl lying beneath it.

Woken by the commotion, Lu Lu opened her eyes and saw the athletic younger brother her best friend had said "definitely wouldn't be coming home today". He was looking her over, his muscular arms folded across his chest.

Lu Lu thought she was seeing things and rubbed her eyes. But she could clearly see the boy's sweat, still warm, rolling from his cheek down past his Adam's apple and into his tank top.

Later.

Lu Lu went with her best friend to watch his basketball game. At first, she didn't pay much attention, but when the game ended and she heard the whole crowd cheering, the alarm bells started ringing.

She picked up the bottle of mineral water beside her and walked over to the rest area. Rising onto her toes, she leaned close to his ear in an exceedingly intimate pose. "Your sister asked me to bring you water."

Hearing the boy's heart pounding like a drum, she secretly rejoiced.

Little did she know that before she arrived, the boy had deliberately smiled at the camera so the entire crowd could spot where he was.

Then he stood there and waited for her.
