1.
Wen Mi first met Zhou Zhiyu at T University.
The man at the lectern was impeccably dressed, wearing gold-rimmed glasses, his reserve and coolness taken to the extreme. With his tie removed, he looked like a refined scoundrel, utterly captivating.
The wealthy Miss Wen imagined Professor Zhou bowing to love, holding her as he lost himself in a kiss. Her red lips curled. A flower on a high peak?
Then she'd pull him down from his pedestal and pluck him herself.
She looked for countless chances to get close to Zhou Zhiyu, but he never gave her so much as a glance. In the end, all she got was, “I'm not interested.”
The girl who had grown up spoiled finally hit a wall and faced reality, leaving dejected and dispirited.
She understood: she couldn't pluck this flower.
2.
At a gathering not long afterward, Wen Mi ran into Zhou Zhiyu again.
He wore a crisp shirt and trousers, still refined and distant. He sat in a corner with a glass of wine in hand, yet remained the center of everyone's attention.
Wen Mi pretended not to see him and half-heartedly listened to the rules of Truth or Dare:
Throw a paper airplane. Whoever it lands on, go hit on them and ask for their contact information.
She steeled herself and aimed the paper airplane at the handsome man sitting across from Zhou Zhiyu.
Unexpectedly, Zhou Zhiyu raised his hand to order at that very moment, and the paper airplane flew straight into the back of his pale hand.
Everyone knew how indifferent and aloof Professor Zhou was. The others drew a collective breath on Wen Mi's behalf and looked at her.
But she sat there with a cold expression, utterly still, with no intention of going over to flirt with him.
Zhou Zhiyu leisurely folded the paper airplane and slipped it into his suit pocket square, then laughed softly in her direction.
“Xiao Mi, aren't you coming over to hit on me?”
Everyone was utterly stunned.
-
The atmosphere fell silent. Wen Mi excused herself to go to the restroom, but the man followed right behind her.
He wrapped an arm around her slender waist and pinned her in the dim, narrow passageway. His voice was suggestive and dangerous. “You flirt with me, then run away?”
Tipsy, Wen Mi lifted her toe and boldly brushed it against his long leg, her eyes curving with a flirtatious smile. “I can't make you budge.”
At her words, the man gently gripped the back of her slender, fair neck. Their hot breaths mingled, and he claimed her lips in an overbearing, forceful kiss.
“Try again.”
