Qi He, a tabletop role-playing game master, receives a mysterious invitation to take part in a supposedly full-dive CoC role-playing game.
The game feels incredibly real. The environments and NPC performances are so immersive that they make you feel like you're really there. Even the players' Sanity scores plummeting after seeing an evil god feels so real it makes your hair stand on end and threatens to break your mind.
The investigations grow increasingly mysterious.
The figures in the lake at Rust Town, the upright-walking black goat, the twelve high heels of Fog City, the paper effigies in a village in Guanzhong...
His teammates are all remarkable in their own ways: a handsome blond con man with maxed-out Persuasion, a sharp-tongued queen with perfect shooting skills, and a pair of chattering siblings with incredible Luck. They even get to listen to comic banter while playing.
But as they gradually draw closer to the truth, they discover that this isn't a full-dive game at all. It's the real world, and the evil god who lured them into it is none other than Hastur, the King in Yellow, one of the Great Old Ones.
Huang Yi, the young and handsome client who commissioned the investigation, is an avatar of Hastur. Wearing a pale yellow suit with his hands in his vest pockets, he gazes at the investigators sprawled across the floor and smiles at Qi He. “Little Hehe, do you like everything I've arranged for you?”
“Not much to look at. You're a Great Old One, but you're just an appetizer for our investigation team. If you've got the guts, summon the Three Pillars and Azathoth, Lord of the Universe, and let's see how you do against me at the dice table.” Badly wounded, Qi He still refuses to back down.
“Fine. Let's see how long you can keep running your mouth...”
A mysterious, infinite-loop CoC campaign.
Couple: Qi He, a role-playing game enthusiast with maxed-out Charisma who is immune to seduction, versus Huang Yi, an evil god avatar who is full of dirty talk and, unable to persuade him, can only force the issue.
Theme: Face challenges head-on. Justice will always triumph over evil.
