Chu Zhou debuted as the winner of a group-forming audition show. One wink GIF made him go viral, earning him the title of the internet's sweetest darling. Fans screamed over every frame of his stages during the show, and he almost became a cultural phenomenon.
But just one year after his limited-time group disbanded, he became the poster child for AI-level acting in the entertainment industry. The fans who had once cried "Oppa!" now raised banners demanding, "Chu Zhou, get out of the entertainment industry!"
Then Chu Zhou announced that he would co-star with Best Actor Gu Nianbai in the film Jiangshan. The whole internet was abuzz, with people questioning whether Chu Zhou had bought his way into the cast.
Gu Nianbai became famous at a young age and landed a leading role with his debut. He had won every major award for his big-screen performances and had never had a single scandal. Everyone said he was about to take a career-ending fall.
But no one knew that the famously scandal-free Best Actor Gu Nianbai was gently holding the sweet darling's chin, his gaze dark. "Didn't you say you'd never come back to me?"
Chu Zhou, his eyes red at the corners, gave a scoff. "Weren't you the one who got down on your knees and begged me?"

Three years after the film's release, Chu Zhou made the list of acclaimed actors thanks to Jiangshan. Then a paparazzi account run by a popular Weibo influencer suddenly posted a photo of the two walking hand in hand into an apartment building, with the snide caption: "Congrats to Chu Zhou for finally winning over his sugar daddy, Gu Nianbai."
Not long after, Chu Zhou's verified account appeared in the comments: "I'm dying. Gu Nianbai was the one who pursued me."
The comment was quickly deleted.
Just as netizens were laughing up a storm, Gu Nianbai, whose Weibo had been overgrown with weeds from lack of use, suddenly posted an update.
Gu Nianbai: It's true. I was the one who had a secret crush on @ChuZhou.
The whole entertainment industry was heartbroken.
