Qin Yutian is kicked off an overpass by Fang Zhixia, who has just returned from abroad, and wakes up twelve years in the past, on the day they first met.
That day, the two high school students were brawling on a riverbank.
Qin Yutian wants to change the past and make up for the wrong he did to Fang Zhixia in college. So he pulls a plastic bag over his head and charges in to break up the fight. After slapping his sixteen-year-old self, he grabs seventeen-year-old Fang Zhixia and runs.
At seventeen, Fang Zhixia is the teacher's favorite student: obedient, sensible, excellent in both academics and conduct, and destined for a bright future. But at night, this same Fang Zhixia is a punk who decks himself out in every color of the rainbow, rides his motorcycle out, and gets into fights.
No one knows Fang Zhixia has two sides until one day, while he and Qin Yutian are walking down the street in their school uniforms, some other punks recognize him.
They grab Qin Yutian, who can't go to the police, and take him to Fang Zhixia. Seeing Fang Zhixia with purple hair and lip and ear piercings, Qin Yutian actually laughs. Then the two of them team up and beat the punks to a pulp.
With his secret exposed, Fang Zhixia gives up trying to hide it and grows closer to Qin Yutian. His life gradually gets back on track. The only thing that bothers him is that Qin Yutian always wears a mask and refuses to tell him his name.
Later, Qin Yutian leaves a love letter and vanishes from seventeen-year-old Fang Zhixia's life.
Qin Yutian returns to the present twelve years later and wakes up in a hospital bed. Standing before him is the twenty-nine-year-old Fang Zhixia.
Twenty-nine-year-old Fang Zhixia once had a first love: someone who changed his entire life, then disappeared after leaving behind only a love letter. He thought this person was Qin Yutian's distant cousin, who had died in a car accident. Qin Yutian thought so too: he believed the person was his distant cousin who had died in a car accident.
One day, Qin Yutian takes Fang Zhixia to visit his cousin's grave.
Looking at the photograph on the tombstone, Fang Zhixia falls silent for a long time.
"That's not him. He's not your cousin."
"How can he not be? That's my cousin. His name and photo both match."
"I... The person who meant so much to me wasn't your cousin."
