No Pain, No Gain: The Top Among Tops

Jiang Xu’s life is ordinary, the same day after day.

If only so many people weren’t fighting over him, both in front of him and behind his back.

1. On the surface, he is gentle as a green bamboo, with moonlight in his eyes when he smiles. Inside, he is dark and possessive, with needs that are never satisfied: the gentle childhood friend.

When Jiang Xu stays out late, he doesn’t call to hurry him home, but in reality, he checks the time twenty times in ten minutes. When he finally can’t hold back, he pretends to send a text that doesn’t sound like he’s urging him home: “I made dinner. Want to come back and eat?”

2. He looks like a firecracker ready to go off at the slightest touch, with the impatient eyes of a wild leopard that’s just woken up. In reality, he’s a blunt school bully with no manners, either.

The moment he notices Jiang Xu looking at him, he turns with the delight of a puppy. He’s so happy his tail might start wagging, but he deliberately keeps his lips pursed, pretending to be cool. “What? Need me to do something?”

3. By day, he calls himself straight, an unassuming young master with no ulterior motives. By night, he secretly searches, “What do I do if I’ve fallen for my roommate?” He’s a roommate who talks himself into it.

He’s convinced he’s straight, yet can’t help crossing every boundary. When he starts to suspect that his concern goes beyond friendship, he instinctively tries to avoid Jiang Xu. But after just one day, he realizes that if he doesn’t go looking for Jiang Xu, the two of them won’t interact at all. He immediately accepts his feelings.

1. There are more than just the numbered characters.

2. Campus love-triangle drama, no choosing between love interests.
