Xing Ruo never thought things would turn out this way.

She had only gone to ask her formidable stepdaughter for help. How had that ended up bringing such undeserved trouble upon her?

Everyone knew that the Lu family, one of the four great cultivation clans, had produced a peerless genius. Before reaching a hundred years of age, he had already attained the Void-Treading Realm. Handsome and refined, with an air of purity and grace, he had become the ideal man in the hearts of countless female cultivators.

But this ideal man was cold by nature, and had been betrothed to someone since childhood.

Decades passed, but the woman never appeared, and the female cultivators began to entertain hopes of their own.

Just as everyone was starting to think the engagement would come to nothing, the woman finally arrived.

And she brought her stepmother with her.

Lu Yan had always believed that he was devoted to seeking the Dao, and that all worldly things were fleeting clouds.

That was, until he saw the woman hiding behind his fiancée. She was delicate and timid, and one shy glance from her stirred something dark inside him.

* Vining-plant heroine x cold, scheming hero

* Taking by force

Content warnings:

1. The heroine is not strong; she's a delicate, pretty crybaby.

2. Lots of melodrama

3. Includes a pursuit-of-the-wife arc

4. The heroine is not a virgin; the hero is. Monogamous pairing.
