Auntie died. Her husband killed her.
If he can still be called her husband.
This was what troubled five-year-old Wo Ni most about her aunt's death: Auntie was gone, so could that man still be called her uncle?
Note:
1. The protagonist of this story is named Wo Ni. The characters in her name have multiple pronunciations and meanings. Read them however you like; I read Ni. Funny enough, one pronunciation means ugly, while another means charming. Hmm... I hereby declare that both pronunciations have positive meanings! She's a girl, after all. How could they not be good?
2. My writing skills are lacking, my perspective limited, my thoughts shallow, and my abilities insufficient. I still have a lot to learn. Maybe no amount of effort will make me any good, but I still want to try. If anything is poorly written or inadequately considered, please point it out.
3. I sincerely accept and am deeply grateful for all civilized, reasonable criticism. The key words are civilized and reasonable. Attacks, insults, curses, and malicious comments will come back around to the commenters.
4. If you hit a sore spot while reading, don't hesitate to leave.
5. May I have no worries each day, and may you have no anxieties each day.
