Hua Jin grew up doted on by her parents and elder brother. Her family was influential, and when she came of age, the emperor arranged her marriage to the crown prince, with the wedding set for spring.
Her life, which seemed to have everything going for it, was shattered by the arrival of one person.
More than a decade ago, Hua Se, the eldest daughter of the Hua family, was thought to have died beneath the ruins. Before Hua Jin's wedding, she returned home.
Hua Se was clever and quick-witted, a beauty blessed with talent and learning.
Hua Jin became the target of everyone's hostility. Her parents deliberately treated her coldly to make their eldest daughter happy. Her brother thought she was narrow-minded, and even the crown prince, her childhood sweetheart, fell in love with Hua Se.
Hua Jin lost both the love and the power that had been hers.
To make up for the years Hua Se had spent wandering far from home, her parents decided to send Hua Jin to Hanshan Temple to pray for her eldest sister.
Rather than waste her youth in a temple, Hua Jin backed down at every turn and married the sickly third prince, Shen Zhao.
After the wedding, she and Shen Zhao treated each other with courtesy. Their life together was as quiet and uneventful as still water.
Unfortunately, Shen Zhao had someone in his heart, too. It wasn't her, but a delicate beauty who seemed too frail to withstand a breeze.
Hua Jin was cast aside completely.
-
Hua Jin was reborn.
She returned to a year before her eldest sister came home after years of wandering.
She spent the year learning skills and saving money for the road. When her parents suggested sending her to a temple to comfort her eldest sister, she readily agreed.
Hua Jin planned to run away.
She didn't get far. She wandered into a hunting game the princes were playing in the woods, where she also ran into Shen Zhao, her husband in her previous life.
He insisted on escorting her back to the Hua family, and she ended up back on the same path to ruin as before: marrying Shen Zhao and being cast aside.
After the wedding, Hua Jin hoped day and night that Shen Zhao would divorce her.
If he did, she could leave and make a life of her own.
But she waited and waited, only to find herself facing a madman, Shen Zhao, who would stop at nothing to possess her.
-
Back when Hua Jin wanted to stay, everyone was eager to send her away. But when she truly wanted to leave, everyone wanted her to stay.
Her parents finally came to their senses and tried to find the carefree little darling she used to be, only to discover that all that remained was a quiet, guarded Hua Jin.
Her elder brother used to love taking his youngest sister out to play. On the Lantern Festival, he turned around and found only Hua Jin, who no longer wanted to get close to anyone.
The crown prince wanted to take his childhood sweetheart on a boat to admire the lanterns. But the carefree fiancee who had once let her guard down around him was now someone else's wife.
Too late for regrets!
Shen Zhao: I avoided the road to ruin by clinging to her relentlessly.
Content warnings: 1. Both leads are sexually inexperienced, so feel free to dive in.
2. This is a fictional setting, and a very loosely grounded one. Historical accuracy fans, stay away!
The logic is still being improved, so readers with especially high standards for logic should proceed with caution.
For other detailed content warnings, see the end of Chapter 1.

Roujia became the crown princess when she came of age, and later smoothly ascended to the throne as empress.
Outsiders all praised the emperor and empress as childhood sweethearts who had grown up together, shared a harmonious marriage, and were deeply in love.
The palace consorts all admired how deeply Roujia loved His Majesty.
Shen Xun thought so, too. No matter how harshly he treated her, she accepted it without complaint or resistance.
He made her kneel for an entire night, yet when she saw him the next day, she showed no hint of grievance.
Few people knew, besides Roujia, that another person was hidden inside Shen Xun's body.
That person was gentle as jade, mild and courteous, and rarely appeared. He was never much for talking.
One night, as torrential rain poured down in the mountains,
he happened to rescue a young girl. They wandered the mountains together for a month.
-
Roujia schemed and plotted until she finally married the benefactor she had longed for, only to discover that, by a cruel twist of fate, he had fallen into a deep sleep. He had been injured after rescuing her and never woke again.
From then on, every flower she wanted to see withered.
All that remained was the brutal and suspicious Shen Xun.
-
Roujia kept her feelings buried deep in her heart, never daring to reveal even a trace of them.
One night, drunk and overwhelmed by longing, Roujia mistook someone for another person.
Only when she clung tightly to Shen Xun, sobbing and calling him a name he didn't recognize as she poured out her grievances, did he finally understand.
She wasn't without grievances, nor was she untouched by emotion.
She had simply endured everything while waiting for someone. It was him, and yet it wasn't him.
-
Shen Xun was gifted and clever, proud and cold-hearted. He had never imagined that one day he would go to such lengths to impersonate someone else's temperament.
All to win her favor.
A story of a husband trying to win back his wife, packed with every melodramatic trope imaginable.
Theme: Face the ordinary with a steady heart, and do extraordinary things.
I almost didn't read it because of the title. It's actually very well written.
What does it mean to be exposed to both rain and dew... Wasn't the male protagonist unclean in his previous life?
What a great ending. I wish you good luck in life
I haven't read this article in a long time. Alas, when I read this chapter, I felt that the heroine in the previous life died very hastily and was killed for that reason. Then the hero lived a strangely good life, living a long and healthy life in three palaces and six courtyards. Hahahaha, I feel like I could write a BE ending, where the heroine just shows mercy everywhere, meets more men and forgets about it, wandering around the world, passing through thousands of "grasses" without even a leaf touching her body.
Just give me your money back.
It's so sweet, so sweet, so sweet. I was super angry when I saw it half way through, and thought that Shen Gou would just be proud of it. But when I saw Jin Niang leaving, I thought it would be a good ending like this. But I really liked the ending when I saw it. Finally, the male protagonist dropped everything to accompany the female protagonist to achieve what she wanted.
It actually made me watch it. Both of us have grown up in this life.
Her death didn't change anything. She burst into tears. The dead are dead, but the living are still suffering.
This chapter is really poorly written
At first, I was scared by the author's lightning protection. Fortunately, I clicked on it, otherwise I would have missed a very interesting article. I really liked it. I cried many times while reading it. Fortunately, it has a happy ending in the end.
