A curse? She too was a curse, a curse called love.
Human negative energy can give birth to monsters. By the same logic, human positive energy can also give birth to... monsters.
Once humans gained self-awareness, curses came into being as well. They brought harm to others, leaving countless victims in their wake. She was born at the same time as the monsters formed from negative energy. Possessing human awareness and thought, she chose to protect humanity because she had been born from love, and gathered many curses that had yet to gain intelligence.
She taught humans how to use their own cursed energy. Only a few could use it, but before long, a group of people transformed the system of curses into jujutsu and began hunting them. Thus, jujutsu sorcerers came into being.
Under her guidance, during the Heian era, the golden age of jujutsu, several particularly distinguished families among the sorcerers began to emerge. A sorcerer's abilities were innate, and ordinary people could not become sorcerers through training. As a result, sorcerers placed great importance on passing down their bloodlines, eventually forming the three great jujutsu families: the Gojo, Zenin, and Kamo clans.
She didn't know why they had to be divided into three families. She had simply taught the humans she cared for everything she knew, protecting them so they could survive in safety.
But most humans are selfish and vile by nature. As their power grew, they eventually turned their attention to her. Some loved her more than life itself, some hated her to the bone, some feared her and wanted to kill her, and some wanted to take her power for themselves.
They named her Xi. The humans she had protected said they would love her and asked her to choose a family, then marry into it. She didn't understand why. What was love? But love certainly wasn't imprisoning her.
In the end, she died at the hands of the humans she had saved.
But her death changed many people. Some altered themselves and moved among humans, creating children born of humans and cursed spirits, all to take revenge on humanity and change this foolish world.
Others fought to the death against the sorcerers she had saved, slaughtering an entire village just to have them accompany her in death. He knew she would be reborn, but he hated them! He hated the ungrateful humans, and he hated that she had chosen to die for such filthy people. So, as he waited for her, he became a cursed object after death, hoping they would meet again.
The humans who truly loved her watched her body fade away, tears of regret in their eyes. If they met her again in another life, they would protect her properly and never let her suffer any harm. They had never understood love, yet they had presumed she would love them. But they didn't know that she, too, simply hadn't yet learned what love was.
A curse called love. She didn't understand what love really was. If she could wake again, she wanted to first forget what she was, and experience love for herself.

Inside, a boy was about to go out and play when he saw the girl. "Why are you sitting in front of my house?"
The girl slowly raised her head and looked at him. "My name is... Xi. I don't remember anything else..."
