Shen Wei is caught in a pileup on the highway. When she opens her eyes, she finds herself in a forest, bound to a System called "Horror World: Wilderness Survival."
Players must build a base, make fires, fetch water, hunt, and fish, storing up as much food as possible before winter arrives.
The bad news: Every player is forced to team up with a horror movie villain!
The villains include, but are not limited to, Sadako, Kayako, zombies, Pearl, the Tyrant, and more...
Shen Wei starts by the water. Her profession is metaphysics, and it seems to give her a luck buff in the game.
Whenever she goes to fetch water, wild ducks show up and deliver themselves. With her survival skills and professional edge, she's already way ahead of the competition.
The problem is, her teammate is Hannibal Lecter, the cannibal from The Silence of the Lambs!
Her professional edge suddenly stops working...
How many days can you survive in the wilderness with a cannibal?
No-prize quiz: How many days before you end up on the menu?
Sunlight gradually filtered through the towering trees, bringing warmth and soft breezes.
Hannibal knelt beside the campfire, following the scent on the wind toward the tent. He could still seem to smell last night's fragrance.
Last night, the fur coat had indeed protected him from the wind and rain, because Miss Shen had covered him with nearly all of her clothes. She had done it just because he coughed once. It was a tender softness found only in women, in mothers.
The fur coat had no scent of its own, but as midnight passed and Shen Wei fell into a deep sleep, her hair began to give off a light, sweet floral fragrance.
It was the scent of roses and star jasmine.
Hannibal's memories returned to the days when he first met Mr. Yakov. That scent also reminded him of his mother's room in the castle.
He had once asked Mr. Yakov whether he ever wondered if spending time on him was worthwhile.
Mr. Yakov had replied, "Everyone is worth spending time on, Hannibal. If someone seems a little slow at first glance, then take the time to understand them and see what's inside."
And so Hannibal spent time getting to know Shen Wei, building a place for her in one corner of his memory palace.
Reader's note: This is 22-year-old Hannibal Lecter, not the middle-aged or elderly version! His relationship with Shen Wei is romantic.
A bit of a slow burn, focused on wilderness survival, daily life, and hunting. With Hannibal around, it may also be a food story. From time to time, they match wits with the protagonists and villains of various horror movies. The heroine has ADHD. She's imperfect and has flaws, but her mental strength is exceptional, and she'll gradually come to terms with herself over the course of the story.
